Good morning lovers of literature, art, music, and creativity! I’ve been uploading a few tracks to my wild rice dreams soundcloud page, which I’m sharing here for the first time. Last year, I had three of my poems set to choral music by award-winning Canadian composer, Mark Sirett for a performance in October at Western University. I was able to go to the performance and it was just amazing! Imagine your poetry set to music and then performed by 300+ students in all the vocal ranges and accompanied by musicians. It was incredible and unbelievable. Mark Sirett did such an amazing job to weave in voice, music, and words. Wow, that’s a really special talent. I have a hard time with a simple double-beat when singing drum songs.
Here is the link to the live recording entitled, Words, Stories, Truth – a trilogy in honour of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples set to my poems: “words of my ancestors”, “the drum warrior’, and “we are standing”, which are sung by the St. Cecilia Singers, Les Choristes, and Western University Singers. These singers are from the Don Wright Faculty of Music at Western University.
Hope you enjoy the music!
